4 for Carol Stream library board

I am alarmed by the red signs all over Carol Stream.

The four people who are running for the library board are using inflammatory rhetoric instead of facts. They campaign against library referendums, even though it's a matter of public record that no referendum will be considered for at least 10 years.

They tell the current board to make do with the existing facility, but then chastise them for making plans to do just that. They rail against tax increases, knowing the Library's tax rate for this year will decrease. They recommend selling the only parcel of land capable of housing a new Library facility in the future during the worst real estate climate in recent history. They ask us to believe their undocumented findings about what the community wants, yet ignore the results of numerous surveys conducted by the Library over the past years. They use misinformation to impugn the integrity of public servants who have served our community faithfully and fiscally responsibly for many years.

They ask for our support.

Are they kidding us? On April 7, select Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 8 on your ballot for the four library trustees who deserve your vote, Thomas Arends, Robert Douglas, Mary Hudspeath and Leslie Shambo.
