Elgin police still on lookout for fugitive
Elgin police are reaching out to the public to help find a 22-year-old gang member accused of stabbing three in an October 2008 fight.
Roberto J. Virola, who has a last known address of 909 Jefferson St., Elgin, as been charged with three counts of attempted first-degree murder and three counts of aggravated battery with a weapon.
The most serious charge, attempted murder, carries a minium prison sentence of six years and a maximum of 30 years.
Police issued an arrest warrant shortly after the fight, which occurred at about 10:50 p.m. Oct. 18 in the 100 block of Kimball Avenue. The warrant was based on information from witnesses and a surveillance video.
"Six months have passed. We want people to know we're still looking for him," said Deputy Chief Jeff Swoboda. "We consider him very dangerous."
Virola is about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs about 155 pounds.
