Antioch man charged in Kennedy crash

An Antioch man was charged with drunken driving after smashing into a fire truck early Sunday morning while emergency crews were working on the Kennedy Expressway.

The crash on the Kennedy took place at about 5 a.m., state police officials said, when the driver of the black Honda hit the left side of the fire truck that was slowing to respond to an accident.

The Honda bounced off the fire truck and hit a gate in front of police and fire crews who were assessing the crash, police said. Police witnessed the crash and were able to immediately to question the driver, whose vehicle stalled after the crash, officials said.

The driver was also cited for following too closely and for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle.

There were no injuries in the accident.
