5 hospitalized from carbon monoxide leak
Authorities say five people, including a child, were hospitalized because of a carbon monoxide leak in a home on Chicago's South Side.
Chicago Fire Department spokesman Kevin MacGregor says fire crews went to a single-family home on West 71st St. Sunday afternoon in response to reports of a carbon monoxide leak.
The five residents, including the child, were taken to three area hospitals, where they were all listed in fair condition Sunday night.
MacGregor says the leak possibly stemmed from a blocked chimney, but the cause remained under investigation.
