An Aurora candidate who'll grow revenue
As an Aurora resident in DuPage County, I pay more than twice as much in property tax as our neighbors in Naperville who are in the same school district. This is only the first of many unfavorable comparisons with nearby communities, which hurts all of us. I have long wondered why our city's leaders have been unable to leverage our great location, abundant natural resources and diverse population to develop a thriving and vibrant community. Today I was heartened to see mayoral candidate Richard Irvin's Economic Blueprint for Aurora to cut taxes to create a pro-growth climate, to reinvigorate our downtown, to emphasize local preference in city contracting and to commit to high quality education for work force development. I think Mr. Irvin understands that our city needs to be a partner to business to grow our revenue base and create jobs. As a small-business owner he understands what businesses need from local government to succeed. Aurora needs change, Aurora needs Richard Irvin for mayor.
