DeWitte for mayor of St. Charles

As longtime residents of St. Charles, we write this letter in support of Mayor Don DeWitte, who is running for re-election in St. Charles. Mayor DeWitte has demonstrated the integrity and strength of character necessary to lead our city during these challenging times.

Mayor DeWitte has been a constructive leader, helping the city council to bring positive change to our community; been a unifying force in the community; brought new tax revenue to St. Charles while reducing the property tax rate 3 percent and eliminating the food and beverage tax; been proactive in finding ways to reduce city spending in anticipation of reduced revenue during the severe nationwide economic downturn; and taken a businesslike approach to the First Street Redevelopment Project that had been bogged down with controversy and litigation, getting it back on track.

We need Don's leadership - in business and government; experience - 16 years in city government; and collaborative efforts - to bring people together.

Give your vote to a man who has shown time and again that he cares passionately about his community.
