Dear Mr. President: Please help business
I am one of those average citizens in my sixties who has dutifully paid taxes all his life and has lost a significant portion of my retirement savings.
As you know, many, many Americans are in the same boat. Daily, I see you continue to push your very expensive social programs and programs that appear to be anti-business such as stimulus (that might not really be stimulus), budgets with thousands of earmarks (and you said you would do away with earmarks), government sponsored health care, cap and trade, bailouts to poorly run businesses, and others; and all the while taking our country into huge debt that we are going to pass on to my unborn grandchildren and yours.
Now, I'm not that smart but, isn't it time to take a step back and reflect on your first five weeks. The market has continued to plunge fearing that you would continue to punish business.
Mr. President, whether you like it or not, we average Americans would like to see you do some things that would stimulate business, thereby improving the stock market. I urge you to reduce income taxes, reduce capital gains, shelve the expensive social programs and cap and trade for awhile. Let the markets grow naturally and help many more millions recoup some of their retirement money. It will save the government huge money in the long term. Once our economy starts growing again and we get on better footing, then go ahead and push your agenda.
Believe me you will have much more help doing what you want if you help millions of Americans recoup hard earned retirement money vs. continuing to spend money we do not have. Isn't it time?
