Card check strips workers of rights
When Chairman Mao and Joseph Stalin wanted to put in place a heinous law which abused their people, they gave that law a glorious name to disguise it. So it is with the Employee Free Choice Act which contains the "card check" provision. This law takes away the fundamental right of a secret ballot and would expose all workers to union thugs. Everyone should have the right to vote for or against a union. But they should have the right to keep their vote secret from both the company and the union so that nobody can pressure them one way or another. Anybody that thinks that unions won't use threats and pressure to force workers to accept the union if the vote becomes public is a naive "babe in the woods." Just think of the past union thugs that have been associated with the mob and put in jail.
President Obama just told the AFL-CIO that the law will pass and he supports it. That is a travesty. Besides taking away the fundamental American right of a secret ballot and exposing workers to union thugs, it will drive more companies to move jobs out of the United States to China and result in even more unemployment. How can anybody stand silent and allow the right to a secret ballot be taken away from workers?
