Principal swap expected at District 116 schools
Despite concerns from teachers at a recent public meeting, Round Lake Area Unit District 116 is expected to proceed with plans to swap two building principals.
Under the plan, Round Lake Beach Elementary School Principal Keele Vetere would move to Indian Hill Elementary in Round Lake Heights beginning in the next academic year. Indian Hill Principal Ken Rose would take Vetere's place at Beach Elementary School.
District 116 board President W. Guy Finley said officials listened to about an hour's worth of concerns from the teachers at a meeting last week.
Finley said one concern was about Indian Hill going on its third principal in as many years. However, he said, officials believe the Indian Hill and Beach schools will benefit from the leadership swap.
District 116 officials could not go into detail publicly because of privacy concerns related to personnel issues.
"Teachers in both buildings are very pleased with their principals and didn't want to see them go," Finley said.
