Carpentersville
• A teen was charged with unlawful delivery of a look-alike substance to an undercover police officer after police said he sold what appeared to be crack cocaine Wednesday. According to a court report, Jimmy L. Seals, 17, of the 100 block of Hazard Drive, agreed to furnish the officer with $200 worth of crack cocaine. During the transaction that also involved a male juvenile, the officer noticed the drug was fake and held onto the $200 and the bag that contained 74.5 grams of a look-alike substance, the report said. Seals was released to his parents. His next court date is April 2 at the Kane County Judicial Center. Police do not yet know what the phony substance was.
Elgin
• A GPS unit was reported stolen Wednesday evening from a green Acura 2.2 CL that was parked on Inglewood Lane, according to a police report. The unit was worth $150. The thief entered the vehicle by smashing one of its windows.
St. Charles
• Anahi Gervacio, 25, of the 500 block of Mann Place in Elgin, was arrested Saturday and charged with retail theft, police said. Gervacio was spotted putting two small purses in a shopping bag by store security at Sears, 3700 E. Main St. Gervacio then left the store without paying. She told police that she had intended to pay for the purses but forgot she put them in her bag.
• Todd Robert Greenwell, 36, of the 200 block of Villa Street in Elgin, was arrested Saturday and charged with retail theft, according to a police report. Greenwell took a bottle of Crown Royal liquor valued at about $46 from Meijer, 855 S. Randall Road. Greenwell fled the scene on foot, but was spotted placing the bottle under a vehicle in a parking lot a few blocks away. Greenwell told police he intended to sell the alcohol. Greenwell was on parole at the time of his arrest.
Kane County
• A television and several pieces of jewelry were reported stolen Tuesday from a residence on the 33W000 block of Bonnie Street, St. Charles Township, according to a police report.
