Nude photos at St. Charles East lead to arrest

An 18-year-old man was charged with three counts of child pornography possession Thursday after nude images of his former girlfriend were found on a computer at St. Charles East High School, police said.

Piotr S. Rybak, 18, of the 1900 block of Wessel Court, St. Charles, was being held in the Kane County jail with bail set at $10,000. He faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison if convicted.

St. Charles police said the investigation began when school employees uncovered three still and video images of a 16-year-old girl during a routine audit of library computers. Investigators later determined Rybak, who is no longer a student at East, loaded the images in March 2008, when he was 17, police spokesman Paul McCurtain said.

"(School District 303) initiated the investigation," McCurtain said. "As soon as they found the images, they went to our school resource officer and reported it."

Rybak was arrested without incident Wednesday. McCurtain said forensic investigators seized additional computer equipment during the execution of a search warrant his house, and the investigation is ongoing.

Kane County court records show Rybak was convicted of disorderly conduct in St. Charles in January 2008 but has no other criminal record, other than truancy and traffic citations. He is scheduled to appear in court April 9 before Judge James C. Hallock.
