Northwest suburban soccer wrap-up

Hersey 1, Fenwick 0: Hersey junior goalkeeper Julia Fredian made 5 saves for the shutout in Arlington Heights.

Sophomore Alexa Ruzkowski scored the winning goal in the second half on an assist from junior Andrea Perkins as Hersey won its season opener as part of the Pepsi Showdown.

Rolling Meadows 4, Harlem 0: Kelly Zahorski made 3 saves for the Mustangs who won their season opener.

Elk Grove 2, Wheaton North 1 (shootout): Senior Jessie Hubly, freshman Kellie Hubly, freshman Katie Naughton and sophomore Carin Fearing all scored goals to give Elk Grove a 4-3 edge in the shootout.

Jessie Hubly also scored in regulation the Grenadiers, who are now 2-0-1.

Elk Grove will meet Lake Zurich on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at Oak Park-Park River Forest in the round of 16 for the Pepsi Showdown.
