Wind damage closes Gurnee store

Bed Bath and Beyond in Gurnee Mills Mall was closed Wednesday due to roof damage. Gurnee firefighters were called to the store, 6132 Grand Ave., about 7 a.m. Wednesday with reports of holes in the roof.

Battalion Chief Barry Henby said seven large rooftop heating and air conditioning units had blown off their supports, likely due to the strong winds.

Firefighters remained on the scene for about an hour securing gas lines. There were no injuries. The store was closed for the day but plans to reopen Thursday
