Montessori School of Lake Forest names new director
The board of directors of the Montessori School of Lake Forest announced the return of Lissa Hektor as executive director. Hektor returns to a position she held at the school for 28 years, from 1978 to 2006. MSLF, located on West Laurel Drive in Lake Forest, was founded in 1965 as a private educational school following the Montessori philosophy.
During her tenure as Executive Director of MSLF, Hektor helped establish the foundation of the school's current curriculum. She was responsible for recruiting, training and hiring most of the current faculty.
Under her guidance, MSLF enjoyed its most ambitious period of expansion, including the funding and building of the Laurel Avenue facility and Outdoor Learning Environment, the addition of Elementary classrooms and the implementation of the Adolescent Program.
Hektor holds a Business Degree from the Private Handelsschule Holzberger in Munich, Germany, and obtained her Montessori diploma from the Midwest Montessori Teacher Training Center in Evanston. She has consulted with many Montessori schools, lectured at the Midwest Montessori Teacher Training Center, and has been a featured speaker at regional and national Montessori conferences. Hektor replaces Cathy Swan as Executive Director, who left the School to pursue other interests.
