Carol Stream man charged in stabbings
A man who allegedly stabbed three others and was chased down by one of the victims is in custody, Carol Stream police said Wednesday.
Mario Garcia, 24, of the 100 block of Quail Run Court in Carol Stream, was charged with four counts of aggravated battery, a count of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon and a count of reckless conduct, police said.
The stabbings occurred around 12:25 a.m. Sunday in the Quail Run Court area after an argument, police said.
Officers were called to the scene for a man who had been stabbed in the stomach and face, police reports said. Police also found a second victim had been cut on his hand.
That man chased Garcia east across Gary Avenue and gave police his whereabouts, authorities said.
Additional officers, including a K-9 unit from Bartlett, were called to the scene, and Garcia was taken into custody near Kehoe Boulevard and Gary Avenue, police said.
A third victim, who also was cut on the hand, was found later Sunday.
All three victims were taken to Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. Two were treated and released, but the man stabbed in the stomach remained hospitalized.
Garcia was transported to DuPage County jail for a bond hearing and remains in custody. Bond was set at $150,000.
