Freshman Smithberg leads Larkin
Lexi Smithberg became the first Larkin freshman to win a game since 2000 when she beat Belvidere North 7-2 Monday in the second game of a nonconference doubleheader. She also suffered the loss when Larkin fell 8-6 in Game 1. In the opener, Sam Bradley (2b, RBI), Smithberg (2-for-4, 2 RBI). Corinne Wimmer (RBI) and Sam King (RBI) led the offense. In Game 2, Larkin got a 3-for-3 game from Wimmer while Ashley Frey had 3 RBI for the Royals. Smithberg struck out seven in the comple-game effort.
