Arlington Park to host national handicapper qualifiers

Arlington Park will offer handicappers two chances to qualify for the DRF/NTRA National Handicapping Championship to be held in Las Vegas in January 2010.

Each Arlington-sponsored tournament will be a "live-money" tournament and offer cash prizes as well as three berths into the national tournament, which in 2009 offered more than $1 million in prize money. Registration for both tournaments will be accepted beginning April 1 at www.arlingtonpark.com.

The first of the two tournaments is scheduled for July 18 at Trackside Arlington Park and will be limited to 300 entries. The entry fee will be $200 per person with a maximum of two entries per person. Players will also be responsible for purchasing a $300 wagering card, which will serve as the player's live bankroll for contest purposes.

Each player must wager a minimum of $300 in contest wagers on the day placed over 15 races, at least 10 of which must be on Arlington Park races. There is no minimum wager per race and the player may reinvest monies earned from winning wagers.

Tournament wagers are limited to Win, Place, Show, Exacta, and Trifecta pools only but the player may wager on multiple pools in a single contest race.

The player with the largest bankroll at the end of the tournament will be declared the winner.

On Sept. 12, Arlington Park will present its first-ever High Limit Showcase live money tournament, which will be limited to 60 entries at $1,000 per entry with a maximum of two entries per person. Players will also be responsible for purchasing a $2,500 wagering card, which will serve as the player's live bankroll for contest purposes. The player with the largest bankroll at the end of the tournament will be declared the winner.
