Body of Wis. man found in DeKalb

DE KALB -- The body of a Wisconsin man missing since Christmas has been found in DeKalb.

Police say a passerby found the body of 56-year-old James Verduin of West Allis, Wis., in the Kishwaukee River on Sunday.

Preliminary autopsy results released Monday listed drowning as the cause of death. Police say foul play is not suspected.

Verduin had not been seen since he was involved in a traffic accident on I-88 December 25th. Police say he declined medical treatment and checked into a hotel.

The family was called by the hotel two days later to pick up belongings Verduin had left behind. Previous searches by local authorities turned up nothing.

The family has said they did not know why Verduin was in DeKalb.
