Zambrano sharp in Cubs' 5-3 win over Mariners

Carlos Zambrano started Sunday and pitched 6 easy innings, giving up 4 hits and 1 run.

"Zambrano was awfully sharp," said Cubs manager Lou Piniella. "He threw 70-some pitches but gave us 6 good innings. He threw strikes, good demeanor. To me, he looks in much better shape than he did last year. He looks trimmer."

Zambrano likely will throw 80-85 pitches and then back it down to 50-55 in his final spring tuneup for the April 6 season opener at Houston.
