Miller, Raseman and Roberts for Barrington village board
Sometimes, an election presents voters with difficult choices. We don't think that's the case in the race for three village board positions in Barrington.
Three incumbents and two challengers are competing for the seats. The two challengers - youth sports volunteer Peter Douglas and retired Fire Lt. Glenn Strebel - are earnest and sincere, but they lack the breadth of perspective and mastery of the issues that make the three incumbents such good trustees and such strong candidates.
We strongly endorse trustees Steve Miller, Elizabeth Raseman and Tim Roberts. Each has done an solid job and each has a devotion to the village of Barrington. Each deserves another term.
Miller has been a thoughtful and collaborative voice on the village board. As a two-term member of the board and an active participant in the community, Raseman provides an institutional perspective few others can match. And Roberts delights us with his passion and analytical skills.
They participate as solid team members as Barrington continues to fight to stem the potential impact of the Canadian National Railway's acquisition of the EJ&E lines and to promote business development in tough times.
