Two men held in $5.5 million drug bust in Hanover Park
Drugs with a street value of $5.5 million were found in a car outside a Hanover Park home, leading to the arrest of two men, authorities said Saturday.
The men appeared in Cook County Circuit Court in Rolling Meadows on Saturday after an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Hanover Park Police that started March 17.
Bond was set at $2 million cash for Bart S. White, 48, of Pasadena, Texas, on charges of trafficking in controlled substance and possession of controlled substance over 900 grams with intent to deliver.
Authorities said they found 27.7 kilograms of suspected cocaine in a car registered to White that was parked at a home they raided in the 1500 block of Olivia Lane.
Omar Galindo Garibay, 24, who authorities said lives in that residence, was held on $700,000 bond, which means he could be released by posting $70,000. He was charged with possession of controlled substance over 100 grams with intent to deliver.
Authorities said they found $268,709 in cash at the Olivia Lane residence, as well as a much smaller amount of drugs that tested positive for cocaine. Police reported finding powder in one location weighing 97 grams and 16 grams in another area.
The next court appearance for the co-defendants is 9 a.m. April 13.
