Kane prosecutor Clint Hull named judge in 16th Judicial Circuit

A prominent Kane County prosecutor is headed to the other side of the bench.

First Assistant State's Attorney Clint Hull has been appointed an associate judge in the 16th Judicial Circuit, officials announced this week.

Hull, a St. Charles native, was selected from 39 candidates for one of two vacant judge positions. He assumes the post Monday.

"I'm thrilled to have the opportunity," Hull said. "It's a tremendous honor, and I wish to thank the judges in the circuit for their support."

Hull is a graduate of the former St. Charles High School, the University of Illinois and the DePaul University School of Law. He began his legal career at the state's attorney's office in 1993 and went on to become first assistant state's attorney in DeKalb County from 1999 until 2004, when he returned to Kane County. He worked briefly in private practice.

State's Attorney John Barsanti described Hull as a "highly trained, highly skilled, ethical prosecutor" who will be a "judge with fairness, integrity and purpose."

"I will personally miss Clint," Barsanti said. "He was my right hand. He played an integral part in everything this office has done since 2004."

Hull will be sworn into office at an informal ceremony Monday. The state's attorney's office said he will split his time between Kane and Kendall counties.

"The 16th Judicial Circuit is excited to have someone with Clint Hull's ability and integrity to join our ranks," Chief Judge F. Keith Brown said. "He is not only a great lawyer but an outstanding citizen, which is evidenced by his work in the community."

Hull is a member of county and state bar associations, the National District Attorneys Association and the Illinois Capital Punishment Reform Committee. He also serves on the board of directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Elgin and the St. Charles park board. He has volunteered with the mentoring program Big Brothers, Big Sisters since 1993.
