Hampshire 12, Kirkland 2: Kent Larson struck out six in 3 innings of work and Hampshire opened the season with a 12-2 win over Kirkland. Zach Crinigan was 3-for-4 with a double, triple and 5 RBI for the Whip-Purs, while Bo Price (2-for-3, RBI, 3 runs) and Joe Moore (2B) also contributed.

Dundee-Crown 1, Wheeling 1: The Chargers got 3 innings of solid pitching from Brandon Schumacher and an RBI from Eric Brewer in opening the season with this 5-inning tie.

Burlington Central 8, CL Central 7: Dave Hartwell allowed just 4 hits and no earned runs and the Rockets held on for this nonconference win. Sam Klein (2-for-3, 2B, 2 RBI), Hartwell (2-for-4, 4 RBI), Bill Rodriguez (3-for-4), Austin Jarvis (2B, HR) and Tanner Scott (2-for-4) led BC's offense.
