Pfefferman brings plan for Glen Ellyn's future

Glen Ellyn voters have a tough choice in picking a new village president to replace Vicky Hase, who is following the town tradition of stepping down after one term.

Candidates Mark Pfefferman and Gary Fasules are both former trustees who understand the challenges facing the community.

Pfefferman, who has won the nomination of the village's influential Civic Betterment Party, says he would bring groups together to spark development and address the village's economic problems. He suggests creating a panel of local finance experts to advise village leaders and explore long-range planning.

Fasules wants to become an advocate for the village, lobbying state lawmakers for pension reform and recruiting businesses to locate in Glen Ellyn's downtown. His priority would be to focus on the town's budget woes.

When it comes to the budget, both agree layoffs and higher taxes should be avoided. They also agree development, especially along Roosevelt Road, is key to the village's financial success.

Both are good candidates. We endorse Pfefferman. His management approach and desire to promote teamwork will help him get more accomplished.
