Hanover Park police make arrest in new gang-related shooting

Hanover Park police have taken a person into custody following a shooting Wednesday night that authorities said was gang related.

No one was struck by the shots, which police said were fired into a vehicle at Barrington Road and Walnut from another vehicle about 9:30 p.m.

Police haven't said whether they think this is related to a Saturday shooting that injured an 18-year-old from Streamwood near Sycamore Road and Church Street, just blocks away from Wednesday's shooting.

Fifteen-year-old Jesus Freye of Hanover Park was charged as an adult in that shooting, which police also said was gang-related.

Village President Rodney Craig will comment on the incident at the village board meeting, which starts at 7:30 p.m.
