Inmate indicted over threatening letters

ROCK ISLAND -- A central Illinois prison inmate is accused of threatening to kill prosecutors, judges or court officials in three counties.

Lewis Clark has been indicted on four counts of mailing threatening communications. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison.

The indictment alleges Clark wrote letters in December 2008 from the Pontiac Correctional Center threatening to kill a judge, court clerk and others in Henry County.

Clark is charged with following those letters with three more in January threatening to kill judges and prosecutors in Henry and Adams counties and prosecutors in Vermilion County.

Clark is serving a four-year sentence for an aggravated battery of a peace officer conviction in Henry County.
