Stolen vehicle recovered in Aurora check cashing store robbery
A vehicle taken by a man who robbed a check cashing store Tuesday afternoon has been recovered, Aurora Police officials said Wednesday morning.
The silver, 2000 Chevrolet Malibu belonging to the 27-year-old female victim of the robbery and employee of the business was found shortly after the 12:35 p.m. incident, Dan Ferrelli of the Aurora Police Department said.
The vehicle was discovered abandoned in the 400 block of Plum Street, he said, roughly a couple of miles from the scene.
Police are still searching for the offender in the robbery, who is described as a black male, about 5-feet, 9-inches, with a stocky build. He was wearing blue jeans with red and blue stitching and white sneakers with a green stripe during the robbery of the Check-N-Go store at 1276 North Lake Street.
Ferrelli said the man entered the store with a black jacket over his head and demanded money from the female employee. During the robbery, he also demanded the keys to her vehicle, which she turned over.
Ferrelli said the man sped away from the parking lot of the strip mall where the business is located.
The woman was not inured in the robbery, Ferrelli said.
