Pair of masked men holdup Payday Loans in Waukegan

Waukegan police are searching for two men in connection with the armed robbery of a Payday Loans store Sunday, police said Tuesday.

Two men entered the store at 2510 Grand Ave. around 9:50 a.m., loaded a duffel bag with money from the cash drawers then demanded employees to take them to the safe, but the safe was not accessible, police said.

The employees' hands were bound with plastic zip-ties and they were ordered to stay on the floor until the men were gone. The employees freed themselves and called police.

Police are looking for a 18- to 22-year-old black male who displayed the gun, about 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-9 tall, weighing 120 to 130 lbs. with a dark complexion wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black zippered lightweight jacket and a black ski mask covering half of his face, police said.

The second man was described as being black, between 18 to 22 years old, 120 to 130 lbs, light complexion, wearing dark blue jeans and a blue zip-up, hooded sweatshirt.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them at (847) 599-2608.
