Palatine leaders can't be forgiven
Your Palatine officials should not be re-elected! You forgot it is government of the people, by the people and for the people; by your constituents!
Here are six reasons:
• Failing (in the downtown redevelopment plan) to position the train station west of the current location to enhance traffic flow and downtown business viability, (instead of gridlock every time a train arrives).
• Failed retail establishments: inviting Sears to remodel their store in late 2005 and now trying to litigate them out of the space is definitely not friendly to entice business to come to Palatine.
• Failing to curb McMansions in our neighborhoods (which do not match the current architectural structures); failed to restrict overbuilding of unsightly and out of character high-rises; failed to accommodate the current village infrastructure limitations and keep the traffic flow at acceptable levels.
• Failed to at least mitigate the airplane noise over our neighborhoods since 2002. You just ignored complaints and the "800" number is useless to help solve the problem. Note: Since 2002 the village has received numerous complaints about the increased noise of additional airplanes flying over our village. The village did publish "800" complaint line to O'Hare in 2002 in the Village Newsletter. However, since that time no action has been taken and the 800 number is useless to help solve the problem. The Mayor hasn't led on this and she is on the O'Hare Noise Compatibility Commission.
• Failed to maintain the yard-waste bag program. It now costs your constituents over 100 percent more to obtain these required bags. (0.30 per bag to 0.60+)
• Where has all the real estate tax money gone with the overbuilding of those high-rises, McMansions and businesses - since you complain about the bills and low tax receipts due to the economic downturn?
