The Chicago Police department says more than 40 people have been arrested in a drug crackdown on the city's South Side.

Officers seized 18 firearms, including handguns, rifles and shotguns during Thursday's operation. They also confiscated $50,000 in cash, 70 pounds of cannabis, two kilos of cocaine and one kilo of heroin.

Suspects were charged with offenses including unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, delivery of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.
