Ill. man pleads guilty to DUI in fatal crash

A Decatur man has pleaded guilty to aggravated DUI in a 2008 crash that left two people dead.

Macon County prosecutors say 46-year-old Richard Wolverton Jr. had a blood-alcohol level of .105 when his work truck ran a red light and struck a car. The state's legal limit for drivers is 0.08.

The car's driver, 56-year-old Patricia Johnson, and her passenger, 50-year-old Pier Angeli Wilson, were killed in the January 2008 crash. Both were from Decatur, as is Wolverton.

Prosecutors dismissed 19 felony and misdemeanor charges against Wolverton related to the crash and another case in which he was charged with possession of marijuana.

He faces up to 28 years in prison when he's sentenced on May 7.
