Bush doing fine post-White House
I had the privilege of attending the multitownship Republican Lincoln dinner Feb. 23 in Schaumburg. Karl Rove, President Bush's closest adviser, was the guest speaker. I would just like to add to Joseph Ryan's fine report this bit of news for the party faithful.
In the Q and A part of the program, I asked Mr. Rove how the former president is doing, especially in light of recent tabloid stories. I am happy to report to all those who may have been concerned, that his positive response clearly conveyed Mr. Bush as being both mentally and physically healthy and leading a normal life. He said they shared some great laughs over these type of stories in the past and seemed confident that they will continue to do so in the future. I got the sense, through Mr. Rove's insight, that President Bush is not a vindictive man and probably allows these stories to roll off his back like water off a duck's. After all, he's had lots of practice while in office.
