Ritter for president in Carpentersville
After attending the majority of Carpentersville village board meetings over the last several years, and witnessing some of the drama that has played out during those meetings, it is plain that a change in the makeup of the board is required. That change should start with the village president position; the board sorely needs the quiet and steady leadership that Trustee Ed Ritter has displayed during his years in office. He has shown that he is low key and dependable and will run board meetings in a fair and evenhanded manner. This would be a welcome change from the present situation, which has the current president using his position to favor those who agree with him and to hinder those who do not.
In addition, it is my belief that candidate Patricia Schultz would be a valuable addition to the board. She has been a tireless worker on the Carpentersville Cares Committee, spending many Saturdays working in the yards of abandoned homes and making a positive effort to improve the village. As well as being a former member of the finance committee, she has a long history of volunteering on many other projects as well. She is a longtime resident who is committed to doing what is best for Carpentersville long term, not what is politically expedient at the moment.
There is also a need for the common sense that Trustee Kay Teeter brings to each of the meetings, as well as her ability to think outside of the box. She has shown that she is willing to listen to all points of view on any given subject that comes before her and then to make a reasonable decision on how to vote. She has been a voice of reason and a consensus builder at the village board meetings, with an ability to break the tension with her sense of humor in times of stress.
These three will serve the village well and with dedication in these troubled times we are facing as a nation.
