Pounds of pot, coke seized in N. Aurora
Two men were charged Thursday after authorities seized more than 20 pounds of marijuana and a kilogram of cocaine from their North Aurora apartment, police said.
The drugs had an estimated street value of more than $250,000 and were uncovered during a search Wednesday morning on the 200 block of Laurel Drive, according to the Kane County sheriff's office.
Alfredo Guerrero, 45, and Juan A. Bolado, 29, are each charged with cocaine and marijuana possession and possession of each with intent to deliver. Guerrero is being held in the county jail without bond; Bolado's bail is set at $750,000.
Authorities said the arrests were the result of an investigation involving the sheriff's special operations unit, immigration and customs officials and the local police.
"(It's) a prime example of what can be accomplished when law enforcement agencies on a local and national level work together," Kane County Sheriff Pat Perez said in a news release.
The suspects are scheduled to appear March 26 before Kane County Judge Thomas E. Mueller. If convicted of the most serious charge, each could face up to 30 years in prison. Court records indicate neither Guerrero nor Bolado have prior criminal records in Kane County.
