Candidate forum Saturday

The League of Women Voters is presenting a forum featuring candidates from various units of government in Wheeling Township from 9:30 a.m. to midafternoon Saturday, March 14, at the third floor Arlington Heights Village Hall, 33 South Arlington Heights Road. In the morning, question and answer sessions will feature candidates for Arlington Heights mayor and trustee, and Northwest Suburban High School District 214. Beginning at 12:30 p.m., candidates will make short statements who are running for Wheeling Township, Arlington Heights Park District and Arlington Heights library.

CUB clinic in Hoffman Monday

The Citizens Utility Board will host a free clinic in Hoffman Estates Monday to offer consumer tips for saving money on telephone service. The agency says the consumers can cut their yearly local and long-distance phone costs by an average of $200, and there will be additional tips on reducing cell phone charges. The clinic, hosted by state Rep. Fred Crespo, takes place takes place at 10 a.m. at the Hoffman Estates Senior Center, 1685 W. Higgins Road. Attendees should bring their phone bills. Candidate forum March 21

The League of Women Voters will conduct a candidate forum at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 21, at the Indian Trails Public Library, 355 S. Schoenbeck Road, Wheeling. Candidates invited to participate in the question and answer session are: for Wheeling mayor, Judy Abruscato, Patrick A. Horcher and David Kolssak; for Prospect Heights mayor, Dolly Vole and Nick Helmer; for Indian Trails Public Library District Board, W. Gene Looft, Doris Wagner, Earl Sabes, Donald Roalkvam, Henry Hackney Jr. and Louise Barnett. Candidates will answer questions submitted by the audience. The program is free and open to the public.

Wolves host "Hockey for Her"

The Chicago Wolves will host their third annual "Hockey for Her" fundraising event, sponsored by Comcast, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 18 at their practice facility in the Hoffman Estates Park District Community Center and Ice Arena, 1685 W. Higgins Road in Hoffman Estates. "Hockey for Her" provides women an introductory glance at the sport by giving them the chance to go behind the scenes of a professional team. A $55 registration fee includes a sneak peek at the Wolves state-of-the-art practice facility, strength and conditioning instruction from Assistant Coach Jason Christie and the chance to talk strategy with Head Coach Don Granato. Several players will also be on hand. Proceeds from the event will benefit the National Ovarian Coalition, the Alzheimer's Association and Chicago Wolves charities.
