Fresh Market, Famous Labels coming to West Dundee
A supermarket and fashion retailer will soon move into the newly renovated Spring Hill Gateway strip mall in West Dundee, the mall's property manager says.
Nature's Fresh Market and Famous Labels are set to fill two large anchor stores in the shopping center at the intersection of routes 31 and 72, on the outskirts of Spring Hill Mall, according to manager Liz Riter.
She described Nature's Fresh market as a "good quality, low cost full service supermarket with both dry goods and especially fresh produce," that will also include a deli, liquor store and flowers.
Famous Labels will fill the void left by the TJ Maxx store's relocation to Randall Road in Algonquin, Riter said. The store offers an "off price" concept similar to TJ Maxx, Marshalls and Steinmart, selling designer clothes, bedding and home goods. out of more than two dozen locations, many of them in the Midwest.
"We expect that these two new strong anchors for Spring Hill Gateway will generate a major increase in the number of shoppers that will visit our center and strengthen business for all of our tenants," Riter said.
Famous Labels, which will take over the former Party Werks store, is expected to open in April. Nature's Fresh Market, which is moving into the old Michael's crafts store, should open by midsummer, Riter said.
Spring Hill Gateway - formerly known as Spring Hill Fashion Corner - is undergoing a $14 million transformation. The mall is part of a tax increment finance district established a year ago.
West Dundee Community Development Director Cathleen Tymoszenko said the center's ability to attract new businesses in the current economy speaks to the multimillion dollar improvements.
"The whole TIF project was put in place because there was a high level of vacancies and stores leaving," Tymoszenko said. "We put the project in place to turn that around. This is exactly what we had hoped and worked toward. It shows that Spring Hill is a viable and important marketplace."
