CN gives more scheduling details

CN officials confirmed Monday that six additional trains per day will be traveling on the EJ&E Railway tracks within a few weeks. Today, two extra trains will be added to the line between Mundelein and Matteson in the South suburbs. The trains are not expected to be scheduled during rush hour but CN had no other specifics on the time. "Freight railroads operate 24 hours a day," Canadian National Railway spokesman Patrick Waldron said. CN purchased the EJ&E, which travels between Waukegan and Gary, Ind., in order to shift freight traffic from its crowded lines in Chicago and nearby suburbs onto the less busy, smaller railroad. But numerous communities along the "J" fought the idea of increased trains in their towns.
