3 charged in assault on police officer

Authorities in Chicago have charged three men in an assault on a police officer that led to a a high-speed chase and a rollover crash on the city's Eisenhower Expressway.

Police say they responded to a disturbance west of downtown Chicago early Saturday morning and tried to make an arrest, but an offender allegedly struck one of the officers in the face and fled the scene, eventually taking off in a vehicle with several other people. The vehicle rolled over at an underpass, and four people were arrested after a foot chase.

One person was later released without charges.

But 30-year-old Tyshaun Hunter was charged Sunday with aggravated battery to a peace officer and other counts. Similar charges were riled against 38-year-old Darren Jones and 38-year-old Jason Williams.
