Man drives motorcycle into Gages Lake
A man fell through the ice on Gages Lake Friday evening after driving on the partially frozen water with his motorcycle, officials said.
Capt. John Cokefair said Grayslake firefighters responded to a 5:35 p.m. call from the lake located east of Route 45 and north of Route 120.
"A couple of guys had been zipping around the ice on motorcycles," Cokefair said.
One man went through but was able to swim to safety, though his motorcycle remained submerged.
Firefighters attended to the man on shore, Cokefair said. He signed a release stating he did not need further medical help.
"There was really nothing to it," he said.
