Learn to avoid marketing mistakes at business series

The next session of the Downtown St. Charles Partnership's Business Development Breakfast series will focus on "Seven Common Mistakes Made in Marketing Communications," presented by Jeff Tytel.

Tytel, president of Tytel Image Marketing, will present these seven common - and oftentimes costly - mistakes, and how to avoid them. In addition, he will discuss how to start creating more business just by making a few simple changes.

The session will be held from 8 to 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, in the Baker Community Center, 101 S. Second St.in St. Charles. Light breakfast foods are provided at every session in the series. The center is not wheelchair accessible.

This is the latest topic to be presented in the yearlong curriculum of sessions designed to address specific issues of interest and value to small business owners.

"We asked our business members what types of issues or topics they would like to have addressed through the year," said Deb Pfaff, the organization's volunteer and membership coordinator. "We tried to schedule speakers and topics at times of the year that made sense, and when they were directly applicable for the business owner."

For example, sessions on budget development, planning and taxes and financial planning are scheduled for the third quarter of this year. Other topics, such as Tytel's presentation on mistakes made in marketing communications, are relevant at any time of the year.

All sessions in the monthly series of business development breakfasts are free to partnership members, or $20 for nonmembers. Registrations can be made by calling Deb Pfaff at (630) 513-5386, ext. 1. To learn more, visit www.dtown.org, or call (630) 513-5386.
