Hoffman Estates: 50 years of spiritual life
Several Hoffman Estates religious leaders will gather later this month to share stories spanning the village's 50 years. The event, which benefits the Hoffman Estates Museum, goes is noon-3:30 p.m. March 21 at village hall, 1900 Hassell Road.
Village Historian Pat Barch is obviously excited about the event which will include a light lunch and speakers from Beth Tikvah Congregation, St. Hubert's Catholic Church, Prince of Peace, Summitview Church and Our Savior's United Methodist Church.
The panel will share the history of their congregations and display photos and other artifacts. It's a great way to kick off the village's 50th anniversary. Tickets are $10 before March 18 and $15 at the door. Call Barch at (847) 755-9630 after 6 p.m. for tickets.
Low-cost programs like these are gaining more popularity. Trustee Gary Pilafas said this week that he believes the Hoffman Estates Arts Commission's events, like its free summer concert series, will even be better attended this year as folks stay close to home for entertainment options in a slumping economy. While the museum's event isn't free, it does benefit a good cause. The economy is hurting nonprofits, and they need the public's help more than ever.
