Chicago Storm adds goalkeeper

Veteran goalkeeper Bayard Elfvin signed an Xtreme Soccer League contract and has joined the Chicago Storm this week to take over for injured starter Jeff Richey.

Elfvin, 28, has been training with the Storm this season, but Richey had played all 15 games before knee and calf injuries in last Sunday's 6-4 win over Detroit forced him to the sidelines.

Elfvin is 8-8 in backup duty with Cleveland (2003-04), St. Louis (2004-05), California (2006-07) and New Jersey (2007-08).

The Storm (6-9) continue their homestand at 3 p.m. Sunday against the Milwaukee Wave.
