National circus coming to Round Lake Beach, Grayslake

Come next week, the name Walker Brothers will be more associated with animals and jugglers instead of delicious pancakes found at restaurants by the same name in Lincolnshire and other suburbs.

Walker Brothers Circus' cross-country tour will stop in Lake County on March 10 and 11. Walker Brothers has been traveling the United States for more than 20 years with family focused entertainment.

Two of Lake County's premier entertainment venues will host the circus.

Walker Brothers' first stop will be the Round Lake Beach Cultural and Civic Center, 2007 Civic Center Way in the village. The shows will begin at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10.

Covering about 31,000 square feet, the new Round Lake Beach Center has hosted a variety of events. The parking lot can accommodate about 475 vehicles.

After hitting Round Lake Beach, the Walker Brothers Circus will stop at the new Lake County Fairgrounds for shows at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11.

Open since late last year, the new fairgrounds are at 1060 E. Peterson Road in Grayslake at Midlothian Road. The Lake County Division of Transportation extended Midlothian north from Peterson to accommodate the facility.

Circus tickets are $14 for adults. Promoters say two children under 14 are free with one paid adult.

Based in Sarasota, Fla., Walker Brothers features Paulo, who is billed as an electrifying youngster with incredible juggling dexterity. Walker Brothers is considered a one-ring European-style circus.

In addition, Walker Brother features an animal review that includes a camel, llamas and zebras. The circus typically runs 90 minutes.
