Assessor's office in Rolling Meadows closing
The Cook County Assessor's office at the Cook County Courthouse in Rolling Meadows will close in the near future, the victim of budget cuts enacted last month in the Cook County budget.
The assessor's office said it will consolidate satellite offices and may have to ask employees to take furlough days to complete its work within its budget.
"These are difficult decisions made in challenging economic times," Houlihan said. "While our plan will undoubtedly result in increased workloads for our employees and may even require mandatory furlough days, it will allow us to avoid layoffs and terminations for the time being."
The exact date of the closures has not been finalized.
Houlihan's office noted that taxpayers needing assistance with exemption appeals and forms can still get assistance from the local township assessor's offices.
