$500,000 bond for man charged in sex case

A Cook County judge set bond at $500,000 Tuesday for 27-year-old, Palatine resident Javier Alarcon-Torres, charged with two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a 6-year-old and a 7-year-old.
The abuse took place between April and December, 2008, said Assistant State's Attorney Matt Fakhoury.
A relative reported the alleged abuse to an employee of the day care center the children attend, Fakhoury said. Employees then contacted Palatine police, who charged Alarcon-Torres on Monday.
If convicted of both counts, Alarcon-Torres could face a sentence of natural life in prison.
