Vote to keep Geneva Library downtown

In the midst of the more visible elections for Geneva alderman and Geneva school board, there is another important position in the upcoming April 7 elections. In a few weeks, you have the opportunity to elect several public servants to positions on the Geneva library board. One of those individuals is longtime Geneva resident Steve Andersson, and you should consider voting for him.

Geneva has a rare and threatened resource - a thriving, pedestrian friendly downtown. Over the years, it has been suggested moving from our historic, downtown library facility to some location farther west as a way of meeting space needs. If you recognize the library as the core community service that it is, and want to keep a library facility downtown, then you share the same values as Mr. Andersson. Were the library to leave downtown, it would be one less attraction to draw people into our city center. In these troubled economic times, every pedestrian and every car visiting downtown helps keep our jewel of a city from falling victim to sprawl.

Mr. Andersson is also an accomplished municipal attorney and would bring those skills to the library board. Familiar with interagency efforts; Mr. Andersson would use his experience to foster cooperation and the sharing of resources among various taxing bodies to save money for all involved.
