Colombian trade deal good for U.S.

I'm glad President Obama is focused on saving and creating jobs. One quick and simple way to do this is to get congressional approval for the Colombian Free Trade Agreement.

This is the agreement that was shelved last year by Speaker Nancy Pelosi during the campaign. More than 9,000 U.S. companies currently export to Columbia, and their products are subject to taxes of up to 35 percent. Eight thousand of these companies are small- or medium-sized businesses.

Most Colombian products are subject to no taxes entering our country. Passing and signing the agreement can only help our economy. Not signing the agreement has no adverse effects for Colombia. Americans are the only people and economy hurt by not signing this agreement. Best of all, this would not cost the US any taxpayer dollars.
