A healthy day just for kids planned through S. Elgin park district

A special event for the entire family is planned by the South Elgin Parks and Recreation Department and Harmony Chiropractic. Join the third annual "Kids Day America," a Health, Safety, and Environmental Awareness Day. It will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 7 at the village municipal annex, 1 W. State St.

The event will provide essential information on crime prevention, child safety, and environmental awareness. The South Elgin Police Department will be on hand providing bike safety information, fingerprint card kits, and child safety seat inspections. The South Elgin Fire District will have its Emergency Preparedness Simulator for children to learn about exiting their house in case of an emergency. Dr. Curt Buss will provide free health screenings, and will be distributing vital information on disease prevention and health promotion. Kumon Learning Center will be on hand to provide educational information.

The free event also will feature Ozzie, the Kane County Cougar promoting his reading program. The first 250 kids will receive a free gift at the door.
