Responsible drivers won't get ticketed
After reading the letter from the woman who was mad that her children were ticketed for not stoping before making a right turn, I thought I might answer back sarcastically. After reading the article for a third time, I thought it best to educate her and her kids.
Now I have to guess that the children had drivers education in high school. And if there are any driver education teachers reading this, I'm sure they would have explained the law of a complete stop at a stop sign as well as right turn on red. Also, when taking the driver's portion of their license exam, they would not have passed if they did not follow this law.
So why does the state or the county or the village have to change the intersection when the solution is so simple. Just teach them how to stop. Being a professional driver, we are taught to stop, look left, right, and then left again before turning right or leaving a stop sign.
That drill takes 3 seconds. So because your kids couldn't spare nine seconds, you are out $300. The fact is: Driving is a privilege. Teach them to be responsible while driving, instead of blaming someone else for their mistakes.
