Fees waived at ECC job fair

Elgin Community College is waiving the $275 registration fee for employers wishing to participate in "ECC Job Fair 2009" on Thursday, April 2.

The measure is intended to support employers and potential employees during the current economic times, according to Peggy Gundrum, director of the ECC Career Services Department. She said eliminating the fee encourages more employer participation during a time when they may be thinking twice about what to spend their money on.

"We are expecting a lot of job seekers and want to provide them with as many job opportunities as possible, in addition to providing employers with quality potential employees," Gundrum said.

The job fair is scheduled from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Spartan Events Center at the main campus, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. In addition to connecting with job seekers, the event offers employers an opportunity to showcase their products and services, strengthen their community presence, broaden their reach and maximize their recruitment efforts.

Employers wishing to include their organization in advance electronic and hard copy promotional materials must return their registration form by Monday, March 2. Participating employers are reserved a display table and two chairs. Employers are expected to provide their own tablecloth, company banner and/or display, giveaways, recruiting materials and employment applications.

For information or to make a reservation, contact the ECC Career Services Department at (847) 214-7399 or visit www.elgin.edu/jobfair.
